Setting global hydrogen standards at the UN
Our own Robin Futcher contributes to crucial international standards at the United Nations
PEIMF+ committee member Robin Futcher has become a leading figure, worldwide, in establishing hydrogen standards. Our members are extremely fortunate to be able to benefit from his vast knowledge of commercial fuelling, and now this vital new technology. Here he outlines his latest acknowledgement.
“I am honoured to share with you a defining moment in my professional career.
I was invited to UNIDO, a specialised agency of the United Nations headquartered in Vienna, to contribute to global hydrogen safety standards. It’s an incredible opportunity to represent Commercial Fuel Solutions Ltd and contribute to a global initiative.
I have been collaborating with fellow hydrogen refuelling engineers and experts from across the globe, to peer review the highly anticipated ISO 19880-2 standard for hydrogen dispenser construction.
This standard is crucial for shaping the future of sustainable energy and industrial hydrogen fuelling at an international level.
UNIDO plays a pivotal role in assisting countries with economic growth, especially in promoting sustainable industrial development. With their permanent presence in over 60 countries, their impact is globally significant.
Being a part of this initiative is not just a personal achievement, but also a chance to contribute to a larger cause; a sustainable and industrially developed world.
I am eager to exchange insights, learn from global experts, and bring back valuable knowledge to further advance our work in the field of sustainable energy. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting venture!”
